Narita International Airport

1) Access from the Airport to the centre of Tokyo

It is best to use the Narita limousine buses or Narita Express (JR train).

  • Airport Limousine

    It takes 80 minutes depending on traffic to get to the centre of Tokyo. The fee is about ¥3000. Some of the Airport Limousines can drop you at the main Tokyo hotels.

  • Narita Express (JR train)

    The Narita Express runs to Tokyo station, Shinagawa station, Shibuya station, and Ikebukuro station. It takes about 53 minutes to get to Tokyo station. The price is about ¥3000.

    It takes 60 minutes from Narita Airport to Keisei Ueno Station. The price is ¥1920.

Tokyo climate

The average temperature in July is 25 degree, it is sometimes over 30 degrees. The rainy season usually ends in mid-July, with the occasional early evening shower. It could be useful to bring an umblella or raincoat. There are many places, such as convenience stores, where you can buy un umbrella (from ¥500), if necessary.

Tokyo is generally humid at this time, so it could be sensible to bring cotton and linen clothes and a light jacket or cardigan for air conditioned rooms.

Banking Information

ATMs/Cash Points in the Hongo Campus

There is an ATM (VISA and American Express) in the Second Co-op shop, located near Yasuda Hall. Opening time : Mon to Fri 8:45-19:00, Sat 9:00-17:00 Closed: Sun and National holidays.

ATM in Hongo Post Office

Hongo post office is on the opposite side of the street to the main gate of the University on Hogo-Dori. The International ATM in the post office only accepts the following credit cards :
VISA, VISA ELECTRY, PLUS, MASTER CARD, DINERS, AMERICAN EXPRESS, JCB, UNION PAY, MAESTRO, CIRRUS.

There can sometimes be problems using international credit cards, due to the time difference between Japan and overseas.

Opening times: Monday to Friday 7:00-23:00, Sat 9:00–21:00, Sun and National holidays 9:00-19:00.
